Tandem
“Finalmente insieme” è la mia proposta per il contest di illustrazione organizzato dall'associazione Tapirulan. Tra tutte le sfumature di “Tandem!” ho interpretato il suo significato latino ovvero “Finalmente / Dopo una lunga attesa”.
“Finally together” is my proposal for the illustration contest organized by the Tapirulan association. Among all the nuances of “Tandem!” I interpreted its Latin meaning or “Finally / After a long wait”.
Ho immaginato la vita di una famiglia di pinguini antartici: l’attenta cura dell’uovo da parte del maschio fino alla nascita del cucciolo e la sua paziente attesa; la pericolosa caccia del pesce della femmina, un lungo viaggio dal quale potrebbe anche non tornare.
La fine dell’estate riporta le femmine a tornare alla colonia natia. Non importa quanto possa essere numerosa: i due pinguini si riconosceranno e saranno, finalmente, di nuovo insieme!
I imagined the life of a family of Antarctic penguins: the careful care of the egg by the male until the birth of the cub and his patient wait; the female's dangerous hunt for fish, a long journey from which she may not even return.
The end of summer brings the females back to their native colony. It doesn't matter how numerous it may be: the two penguins will recognize each other and will finally be together again!
